Wheel Bin Service Household
For over 20 years, McElvaney’s have provided a door-to-door waste collection to the people of County Monaghan. Nowadays customers are provided with two 240 litre wheel bins Free of charge – one for Waste (green) and one for mixed dry Recyclables (blue), Click the link for a list of Materials Accepted in the BLUE BIN.
We operate a fair system of Pay-By-Weight charging for the waste bin while the weight of the recyclable material is free of charge. The benefits of this system are two fold:
- From the introduction of the Pay-by-weight and Recycling scheme in 2003, household customers of McElvaneys in County Monaghan have reduced the annual amount of waste sent to landfill from 1,250kgs/house/year to 680kgs at present – one of the lowest in the country, and
- Recycling rates have increased year on year leading to our customers continuing to see the benefit in their half yearly bills.
Mc Elvaney’s currently operate on an alternate week collection basis which means that each household customer receives 26 waste and 26 recycle collections per year.

Payment Methods
There are a number of different methods available to customers for the wheel bin service, choose whichever one suits you best:
- Cash - Call to our Office at the Scotch Corner to pay your account
- Cheque - Use the pre paid envelope and return your remittance slip and cheque by post
- Post Office - Visit your local post office with a copy of your current invoice
- Bill Pay - Pay online at www.billpay.ie (Registration with Billpay.ie required to use this service)
- Credit/Debit Card - Pay over the phone via credit or Laser card
- Direct Debit - Take the hassle out of paying for your bins by moving to our Direct Debit scheme. Simply Fill out a Direct Debit form, post it back to us and we'll do the rest. Click to download the Direct Debit Form. Opting for the Direct Debit scheme means you can break down your bill into Monthly, Quarterly or Bi-annual payments, you decide.
Pre-Paid Bags
If a wheel bin is not suitable for your house or apartment, why not have a look into our prepaid bags. A roll of 5 bags can be purchased from shops located around the county as stated below.
