Household Wheel Bin Service
For over 25 years, McElvaney’s have provided a door-to-door waste collection to the people of County Monaghan. McElvaney Customers have three options when it comes to their household waste collection needs:
Weekly/Bill Service
Customers are provided with two bins, one for Waste (green) and one for Mixed Dry Recyclables (blue). Customers living in the urdan towns of Monaghan, Castleblayney, Ballybay & Carrickmacross are also provided with a third bin for household Organics (Brown). Collections are on alterate weeks, one week is the green bin (and brown bin where applicable) and the next week is blue bin and so on until the end of the year.
For all of our customers living in rural areas we collect both the waste and recycle bins on the same day with our newly converted twin pack trucks. Collections are every fortnight. Please refer to your bin collection calendar. For any queries on which calendar is for your area, please contact us at 047 80888 or email us at info@mcelvaneywaste.com.
We operate a fair system of Pay-By-Weight charging for the waste bin and the organic bin while the weight of the recyclable material is FREE of charge. The benefits of this system are two fold:
From the introduction of the Pay-by-weight and Recycling scheme in 2003, household customers of McElvaneys in County Monaghan have reduced the annual amount of waste sent to landfill from 1,250kgs/house/year to 585gs at present – one of the lowest in the country.
Recycling rates have increased year on year leading to our customers continuing to see the benefit in their half yearly bills, see Reports section.
Mc Elvaney’s currently operate on an alternate week collection basis which means that each household customer receives 26 waste and 26 recycle collections per year.
